As part of the OK:GO initiative, Swiss tourism businesses collect and share information about the accessibility of their services. This makes it easier for people with disabilities and those with temporary mobility restrictions – for example, due to age or injury – to plan their trips. Participation in the OK:GO initiative is free of charge and recognised within the Swisstainable sustainability programme at Level II – engaged (in combination).
Before you start

As part of the OK:GO initiative, tourism businesses collect and share their accessibility information using the free Ginto app. You can find help on how to use Ginto under ‘Support’.

Travellers with reduced mobility are an important target group for the tourism industry and make up a significant proportion of the population. By participating in OK:GO, tourism businesses can directly address and welcome these target groups.

You can enter information about the accessibility of your business yourself at any time using Ginto. We recommend professional assessment by Pro Infirmis specialists for complex building structures, such as buildings with multiple floors and entrances. Professional assessment is also recommended for facilities such as amusement parks that have multiple buildings.

Terms and conditions of participation OK:GO

OK:GO is aimed at tourism businesses in the hotel, catering, arts and culture, and mobility sectors. Anyone can take part, even those who are not fully accessible. Participation involves five steps.

  1. 1
    Record the accessibility information using the free Ginto app. Ensure that all criteria are recorded in full in accordance with the requirements, at least at detail level 2. Also ensure that the entire range of tourist facilities is recorded; for example, in the case of hotels with a restaurant, this includes both the hotel’s premises and those of the restaurant.

    Ensure that the entry is assigned to a business.
  3. 3
    Assign the entry the verification status ‘Verified by the business’.
  4. 4
    Share accessibility information prominently on your business or service website. Use the OK:GO emblem and the link to the Ginto detailed entry. The information must be easy to find and sensibly placed, for example directly next to the service, under travel information or opening hours. Ideally, you should also provide alternative text so that people with visual impairments can also find the accessibility information.
  5. 5
    Check your entry on Ginto regularly and keep the accessibility information up to date. This will ensure the quality of the accessibility information for your business or service.

Apply for OK:GO proof for ‘Swisstainable’

OK:GO is recognised as proof within the ‘Swisstainable’ sustainability programme at Level II – engaged (in combination). An overview of all recognised sustainability certificates can be found here.

An OK:GO certificate for participation in ‘Swisstainable’ can be applied for using this web form. A certificate will be issued once the conditions of participation have been met. The OK:GO certificate is valid for two years from the date of issue.

Is Ginto's Swisstainable certificate also available for destination management organisations (DMOs)?

Yes, as a destination marketing or management organisation (DMO), you can obtain verification by, for example, registering and publishing the tourist information office. Optionally, a DMO can:

  • Use all existing channels to inform travellers and tourism businesses about Ginto.

Accessibility information about my business has been recorded by Pro Infirmis. Is a professional assessment carried out by Swisstainable recognised?

Yes, if the requirements are met. Participation in the OK:GO initiative takes place in five steps:

  1. Collection of accessibility information at detail levels 2 or 3.
  2. The entry is assigned to a business.
  3. The entry was assigned the verification status ‘Verified by the business’ or 'Verified by specialist organisation'.
  4. Publication of accessibility information.
  5. Regular review and updating of accessibility information.

Once a venue has been registered with Pro Infirmis, steps 1–3 have already been completed. The fourth step is to publish the accessibility information on the venue’s own website. Tourism businesses are required to keep the accessibility information up to date and to inform Pro Infirmis of any changes.
