As part of the OK:GO initiative, Swiss tourism businesses record and share information about the accessibility of their services. This makes travel planning easier for people with disabilities and those with temporary mobility restrictions, such as the elderly or those recovering from injuries. Participation in the OK:GO initiative is free of charge and is recognized as Level II – engaged (in combination) within the "Swisstainable" sustainability program.
Before you start

As part of the OK:GO initiative, tourism businesses record and share their accessibility information using the free Ginto app. You can find help on how to easily use Ginto under "Support".

Travelers with mobility restrictions are an important target group for the tourism industry and make up a significant portion of the population. By participating in OK:GO, tourism businesses can directly reach out to and welcome these target groups.

Professional tip

In principle, you can record your business's accessibility information yourself at any time using Ginto. For complex building structures, such as buildings with multiple floors and entrances, we recommend professional recording by experts from Pro Infirmis. Professional recording is also recommended for facilities like theme parks that have multiple buildings.

OK:GO Terms and Conditions

OK:GO is aimed at tourism businesses in the hotel, catering, arts and culture, and mobility sectors. Everyone can participate, even those that are not fully accessible. Participation takes place in five steps.

    Record accessibility information using the free Ginto app. Complete all criteria according to the requirements at least to detail level 2. Furthermore, ensure that the entire tourism offering is recorded—for example, in the case of hotels with restaurants, both the hotel premises and the restaurant facilities must be included.

    Ensure that the entry is assigned to a business.
  3. 3
    Set the entry status to "Verified by business".
  4. 4
    Share accessibility information in a prominent place on your business or service website. Use the OK:GO emblem and the link to the Ginto detail entry. The information must be easy to find and placed logically, for example, directly next to the offer, under travel information, or with opening hours. Ideally, you should also provide alternative text so that people with visual impairments can also find the accessibility information.

    Check your entry on Ginto regularly and keep the accessibility information up to date. This ensures the quality of the accessibility information for your business or service.

Apply for OK:GO proof for ‘Swisstainable’

OK:GO is recognised as proof within the ‘Swisstainable’ sustainability programme at Level II – engaged (in combination). An overview of all recognised sustainability certificates can be found here.

An OK:GO certificate for participation in ‘Swisstainable’ can be applied for using this web form. A certificate will be issued once the conditions of participation have been met. The OK:GO certificate is valid for two years from the date of issue.

Is Swisstainable certification also available for destination management organizations (DMOs)?

Yes, as a tourism organization or destination management organization (DMO), you can obtain the certification by, for example, registering and publishing your tourist office. Optionally, a tourism organization or DMO can:

The accessibility information for my business was recorded by Pro Infirmis. Is a professional assessment recognized by Swisstainable?

Yes, provided the requirements are met. Participation in the OK:GO initiative involves five steps:

  1. Recording accessibility information at detail level 2 or 3.
  2. The entry is assigned to a business.
  3. The entry has been assigned the verification status "Verified by business" or "Verified by specialist organization".
  4. Publication of accessibility information.
  5. Regular review and updating of accessibility information.

If a location has been assessed by Pro Infirmis, steps 1-3 are already complete. The fourth step is to publish the accessibility information on your own website. Tourism businesses are encouraged to keep their accessibility information up to date and to inform Pro Infirmis of any changes.
