Ginto collects and shares information about the accessibility of locations. The more websites, apps, web maps, and data platforms publish this accessibility information, the easier it is to find it. In this guide, you'll learn how to share accessibility information with others and integrate it into your website.

Ginto's information can be shared in a variety of ways. We recommend that you check out all options listed here. This is how you find the best solution for your application.

Share link

For every location that has collected its accessibility information, Ginto automatically generates a web link. Share this link on your website. In this way, even people who don't know Ginto yet can quickly find the appropriate information.

    Open your entry in the Ginto app.
  2. 2
    Click on the icon at the top right to share the Ginto entry.
  3. 3
    Copy or send the link for further use.
  4. 4
    You can also open your Ginto entry in the browser and copy the link from the address bar.

    Place the link somewhere easy to find on your website. For example, under “How to get there” or “Contact”.

People with disabilities are an important target group and represent a significant portion of the population. When you publish accessibility information, you are showing openness to the diverse needs of your customers.

Show pictograms

Use our API to retrieve details, such as accessibility icons, for your Ginto entry to display them on your website.

The options are varied and the implementation is not complicated. However, programming skills in the area of web technologies are required. The accessibility information can be retrieved via the Ginto API, the AccomoDataHub from HotellerieSuisse or the discover.swiss data hub.

Accessibility topic page

A topic page provides general guidance: How can people with disabilities find their way around the tourist destination, health center or leisure facility?

    Create a topic page with general information about the accessibility of your offer and make sure that it is clearly visible on your website.

    On this topic page, you will compile relevant information for people with disabilities on how to get there, local mobility and local contact points. Make sure to address different target groups and also consider people with visual or hearing disabilities as well as with neurodivergence.

    Name special offers such as guided tours and aids such as audio guides.

    If you mention examples of particularly barrier-free locations or sights on the topic page, link the relevant detailed information from Ginto, if available.

    Add meta tags to the topic page so that it can also be easily found by search engines.

When creating a topic page, make sure to address different target groups, including people with visual or hearing disabilities and with neurodivergence.

Allow visitors to your website to filter offers not only by price or availability, but also by accessibility.

    Create a list of all entries that you want to use in your application.

    We'll create a source ID for your listings.

    Get the accessibility information for your source ID via our API.

    Enter the information into the filter on your website or app.

Embed the Ginto web map

The Ginto web map provides a quick and easy overview of the availability of accessibility information.

    Choose which entries you want to display on the map. For example, you can choose to display only the entries in a specific town.

    Ask Ginto to create a link that displays your selected entries.
  3. 3
    Embed the Ginto web map into your website or link to the Ginto web map with your custom settings.

Apply for OK:GO proof for ‘Swisstainable’

OK:GO is recognised as proof within the ‘Swisstainable’ sustainability programme at Level II – engaged (in combination). An overview of all recognised sustainability certificates can be found here.

An OK:GO certificate for participation in ‘Swisstainable’ can be applied for using this web form. A certificate will be issued once the conditions of participation have been met. The OK:GO certificate is valid for two years from the date of issue.

Why is it important to share accessibility information?

Not every location is 100% barrier-free. In order to be able to plan a visit accordingly, people with disabilities, families with strollers and seniors depend on finding detailed information about the accessibility of a hotel, a health practice or an administration building in advance of a visit. The more websites, apps, web maps, and data platforms share the information collected with Ginto, the more likely it is to be found.
