AXA Corporate Volunteering
As part of the AXA Corporate Volunteering Program “AXA from Heart to Heart”, employees from AXA Switzerland collect information on the accessibility of cafés, restaurants and pharmacies in and around Winterthur.
An experience with a lasting effect
Ginto's mission is to provide as much information as possible on the accessibility of locations and thus to make it easier for people with disabilities to participate in leisure activities. As part of the AXA Corporate Volunteering Program “AXA from Heart to Heart”, the team from AXA Switzerland actively supported Ginto in advancing this mission.
That is why AXA Switzerland employees traveled in small groups in June and September 2024 to use Ginto to collect a lot of information about the accessibility of cafés, restaurants and pharmacies. In doing so, they measured door widths, documented any obstacles such as steps or steps, and recorded important aids such as handrails on stairs or folding handles in toilets.
It is a formative experience for volunteers. Many of them report that they are suddenly seeing the world with different eyes. At the same time, it generally strengthens the understanding of what it means to travel in a wheelchair. Another volunteer says: “Using Ginto is intuitive and you can immediately see the result, it's fun!”

“For our internal corporate volunteering program “AXA from Heart to Heart”, the registration campaign with Ginto is a great offer. The organization and arrangements in advance worked wonderfully. The recording campaign left a lasting impression on employees. We are already looking forward to the next issue.”
Social sustainability in action
Everyone benefits from charitable activities like this: Employees are made aware of inclusion issues and can make a concrete, practical and uncomplicated contribution. Companies have a simple and low-threshold way to implement their sustainability goals and make their commitment visible.
Ultimately, the entire society benefits: By collecting and providing information on the accessibility of locations, unnecessary barriers for people with disabilities are removed, travel planning is simplified and self-determined travel is promoted. This makes an important contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
