Inclusive Tourism Destinations

Your benefits

  • Highlight the accessibility of your destination.
  • Reach new target groups and promote inclusion.
  • Take the pressure off your tourism businesses when it comes to questions about accessibility.

How accessible is your tourist region?

For travellers with disabilities, planning a trip involves hours of research. Staff at hotels, cafés and museums are often unsure how to answer questions about accessibility. Ginto offers a solution: with Ginto, you can record and share objective information about accessibility. This enables people with disabilities to decide for themselves whether a place is suitable for them. This takes the pressure off both guests and businesses alike.

An accessible solution for social sustainability

By publishing information on accessibility, you are sending a strong message in support of inclusion. Participation in Ginto is also recognised for tourism businesses under the ‘Swisstainable’ sustainability programme (Level II – engaged, in combination).

Here’s what you can do as a tourist destination:

Encourage businesses in your region to record and share their accessibility information. Let them know about Ginto via newsletters, events or your website. Support service providers with the data collection process – either financially or by providing staff. You can also share accessibility information by embedding Ginto data directly onto your website via the open data interface, a web map or through discover.swiss. Or become a Ginto ambassador and use Ginto Studio for additional features. This will allow you to keep track of registered venues, create regional reports (e.g. for ‘Swisstainable Destination’) and launch your own registration campaigns.
