Accessible buildings

Vortex Solutions and Ginto are joining forces: this collaboration makes it possible to analyse buildings for compliance with the SIA 500 standard for ‘barrier-free buildings’ whilst also providing information on accessibility for people with disabilities.

Working together for greater accessibility in buildings

Ginto finds, collects and shares information on the accessibility of venues. This information makes it easier for people with disabilities to plan their leisure and everyday activities independently. Vortex Solutions has been using its own application for several years to assess buildings in accordance with the SIA 500 standard for ‘barrier-free buildings’. Many customers have used this to systematically assess their buildings, identify weaknesses and implement specific measures to improve accessibility. Ginto and Vortex Solutions are now taking the next step together by pooling their experience and expertise. This enables accessibility information to be recorded once and utilised in multiple ways. This information helps people with disabilities to assess accessibility on an individual basis and, at the same time, serves as a basis for structural improvements towards greater accessibility.

A Ginto tape measure, a mobile phone and the documentation for the SIA 500 standard on ‘Accessible Buildings’ are lying on a table.

Ginto is being expanded to include SIA 500 functions

Businesses, building owners and specialist organisations can already use Ginto to record accessibility information at three levels of detail. Ginto now includes new features for recording data in accordance with SIA 500. In addition to carrying out an inventory, this enables the prioritisation of structural or infrastructural measures, as well as an initial cost estimate. The result is a solution that brings together the needs of people with disabilities and the requirements of building owners, businesses and those responsible for property portfolios even more effectively. The partnership between Ginto and Vortex Solutions thus makes an important contribution to the practical, transparent and impact-oriented implementation of accessibility in buildings. The new features are currently being tested. They will soon be available to other specialist organisations as well as Vortex Solutions.
